Spring and Summer

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula offers a wide variety of activities all year. More than just a ski area, the western UP hosts charter sport fishing, waterfalls, fishing on Lake Gogebic, and the Bessemer, MI 4th of July celebration. Nearby Ironwood is home to the Hiawatha statue, the Historic Ironwood Theatre, and the Gogebic-Iron County Airport. The Big Top Chautauqua continues throughout the spring and summer months and is a short driving distance away. Piper Haus is also very near the Porcupine Mountains for sightseeing and incredible photographic vistas.

The Ottawa National Forest , where the area is rich in wildlife viewing opportunities; breathtaking views of rolling hills dotted with lakes, rivers and waterfalls; and spectacular fall colors. Nearby Lake Superior offers opportunities for boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, jet skiing, diving, and a variety of other activities.


Fall brings cool nights and colorful sights throughout the area. Lakes abound in the area for fishing, boating, and water sports. Copper Peak is a wintertime ski jump, but ski lifts are available in summer and fall for adventure rides and mountaintop views. Visit parks, golf courses, and the Great Lakes just a short distance from the lodge. The entire area is ablaze with color in the brisk fall air of the Upper Peninsula and the Porcupine Mountains. The Paulding Mystery Light is visible all months of the year.


When the air turns brisk, the area really comes alive at Big Powderhorn Mountain ski area along with the ski areas at Blackjack Ski Resort, Indianhead Mountain, and the Whitecap Mountains.
